About us.....

Abingdon Carbon Cutters is a Community Action Group formed to help reduce the carbon footprint of Abingdon in response to climate change, and to promote a sustainable and resilient lifestyle for our town as fossil fuel stocks decline. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at St Ethelwold's House, which is here.

At some meetings, we have guest speakers to present various topics, and at others we discuss our own personal actions to address climate change. The group has a focus on encouragement, both of one another, and of the town community.

The Oxfordshire Big Climate Event - 7th November

Oxfordshire Climate Xchange & the Community Action Group Project, with the Oxfordshire Climate Action Network (OxCAN) present:

The Oxfordshire Big Climate Event

Saturday November 7th, 10am – 5pm, Oxford Town Hall .

Following on from ‘Joining the Dots’ activities and feedback from Community Action Groups, we have identified a clear need for a skill share and communities conference in Oxfordshire.

The objectives of the event are to:

* Meet other groups, learn from each other, strengthen your work and share best practise
* Skill share of specific ideas to involve your community in carbon and waste reduction
* Inspiration, ideas and support for starting up a new community group
* Showcasing agencies and organisations that can provide help and support

There will be a choice of workshops in both the morning and afternoon sessions, with practical ‘how to…’ activities during the lunch break, time for informal networking and the day will finish with wine, live music and dancing!

Places will cost £5 per person and include a locally sourced lunch. Subsidised places will be available on request.

Please reserve the date in your diaries now! More information and a booking form will be sent nearer the time.

In order for us to plan an event that will be most useful to you, we have created a very quick online survey with a list of example workshop subjects. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions to help us tailor the day to your groups’ needs. There are quite a lot of things that need to be done in order to organize the workshops so we would appreciate your comments as soon as possible. Thanks!
