About us.....

Abingdon Carbon Cutters is a Community Action Group formed to help reduce the carbon footprint of Abingdon in response to climate change, and to promote a sustainable and resilient lifestyle for our town as fossil fuel stocks decline. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at St Ethelwold's House, which is here.

At some meetings, we have guest speakers to present various topics, and at others we discuss our own personal actions to address climate change. The group has a focus on encouragement, both of one another, and of the town community.

Apple Fun in the Park

Many many thanks to those who donated apples for today's Fun in the Park event in Abingdon. The weather was kind, and many people stopped to chat at our stall, which was great.

Many people came to the stand and enquired about the possibility of borrowing the apple press to use in their own time.

Booking the press is handled by "Community Action Groups" - the umbrella underneath which all Oxfordshire environmental groups operate. You can contact them here. The press is mostly stored in Abingdon, however.

The calendar of events on this website should be fairly up to date - but as a reminder of the next few upcoming events, here's a brief list:

14th September: Come and listen to Abingdon author Jackie Sherman at St Ethelwold’s House at 7.30pm. Jackie is the author of the newly published ‘Making the most of your Glorious Glut’, a recipe book that focuses on using all those home-grown vegetables and fruit.
There is more information here

21st September: come to the Carbon Cutters' meeting and find out What's going on in Schools - with reports from various activites across the town, and initiatives involving young people.

15th October - Abingdon Apple day - 11-3pm at South Abingdon Children's centre. Keep watching this blog for more information
